Book Page Canvas – BOO!

Posted on Oct 27, 2011 in DIY Projects

Some of my favorite things in blogland this year have been the Book Page Crafts. The Book Page Canvas has shown up in many different forms across blogs, catalogs and pinterest so I decided to try it out for myself! A girl can only resist so much temptation! I started out with a blank canvas, foam brushes, orange craft paint and Mod Podge – all from Hobby Lobby. My book was from a yard sale years ago.

I began by tearing the pages out of the book and Mod Podging them onto my canvas using the foam paint brush. It then looked like this…

I wanted it to look crinkly and old so I purposely used the edges of the pages that were stained and worn, and I did not smooth the wrinkles out. Then, I used my Cricut to cut out the letters BOO and traced them onto my now dry Book Page Canvas. Following that up with some orange craft paint and TADA! I could probably make one for every room in the house because it is so quick and simple. If I’m being honest I have also made one with a turquoise “h” for the front porch. They are just too much fun!

Here it is on my Fall Mantel. I love it! I think it adds a fun, vintage kind of charm. I placed it right on top of the framed family picture that we have on the mantel. I like how the black frame makes it stand out and feel bigger.

Welcome, Fall!

Have you made anything with book pages? I think I’m going to try out the wreath next, we will see how that goes!
